SUMMARY

Larry Ruhl, born in May of 1972, is a visual artist and writer. His work is primarily derived from a place of complex trauma with the intention of excavation and healing.  Through his collages, figures, scrapbooks, and writing, he explores gender, sexuality, trauma, and religion. He frequently uses fire, melted wax, antique images, and language as a way to illustrate a rising from the ashes process that many survivors face. His goal is for his work to not just speak for himself, but for others who have found their way to new paths of emotional freedom. To imagine reincarnation.
